Being a teenager is full of pressures and problems. The concept of peer pressure seems to get worse with each generation. From clothes to shoes to cars, teens care about what their friends have and what they don’t have. Peer pressure takes on a technological facet with the advent of cell phones and their common ownership by teens. Does a teenager really need a Blackberry with wireless internet connection?
On a recent Friday evening, we attended a high school football game. We were surprised to see teens pulling up in new BMW convertibles and Hummers. These were not the cars we drove in high school. As the teens entered the stadium, they activated their cell phone earpieces and contacted their friends on the cell phone to find who they were looking for. Forfeiting walking around and finding someone, you can text message a friend to meet up and then hang out together. The teens possessed cellular phone accessories I use for work purposes and it helps them stay connected to their group of friends. Some teens had cell phones that acted as 2 way radios so they could immediately contact their friends. With all the texting and cell phone talking, no one seemed to be watching the football game. Now, that I remember, going to a football game and not knowing who won the game because I was too busy with my friends. Finally, one thing multiple generations of teens can identify with.

I am always on the lookout for any kind of plus size halloween costumes that I can find because they are in high demand. I do not know if it is because people these days are eating more than ever or exercising less or exactly what the reason for it is, but I put on high school plays for a living and more and more often I am seeing the kids at the schools having trouble fitting into normal sized costumes. I feel bad for them because I mean they are only high school kids after all, and already they are having so much of this trouble with their weight management. I do not know if it is because of the parents not paying attention or setting a bad example for their poor kids or indulging them in the wrong kind of behaviors for their health because they are not strong enough to put their foot down and teach them better. But at any rate, I think it is very unfortunate.
But, on a more positive note, the other day when I was out looking for these bigger sized costumes, I found the perfect blonde wig for my leading lady of this year’s upcoming spring musical.

Recently, I celebrated the 5 year anniversary of my company. It was a special occasion for me because, frankly, I didn’t know if my company would last 5 years. There were a lot of complications and growing pains early on, but we survived them and we’re stronger than ever.
It got me thinking: what mistakes did I make early on? Here are just 3 I can think of off the top of my head.
- 1. Not Marketing Enough- When you’re running a one man company, it can be hard to find time to do everything. The biggest mistake I made was putting marketing on the backburner. I was so focused on all the menial daily tasks that I didn’t look to my company’s future. As a result, when I finished a contract with one of my clients, I realized I didn’t have anything to fill that gap. Had I been marketing the whole time, I would have had more than enough work.
- 2. Being Disorganized- Disorganization almost killed my company. I had no clue what I was doing. Finally, I wised up and bought some project management software. This helped me with project management time tracking, allowing me to maximize my efficiency.
- 3. Waiting to Get Help- I was running a one man company for a long time. I was too hesitant and fearful to hire anyone else. What I didn’t realize was that I needed the help so that I could grow my company even further. Hiring an extra person helped me increase my profits by over 3 times.

One of the best ways to save money on your utility bills if you own a portable spa is to make sure that you’re maximizing the energy efficiency of that hot tub. And if you’re looking at a new hot tub for sale, you’ll really want to pay attention to how energy-efficient it is. There’s simply no point in getting a cheap hot tub if you’re going to pay an exorbitant cost for keeping it running.
The main thing that makes a portable spa more energy efficient is the proper insulation. There are many different types of hot tub insulation. The right type depends on the type of hot tub that you have, the materials used in the hot tub and whether it’s an indoor or outdoor spa. You’ll also want to consider any concerns you have about using organic hot tub insulation and other personal preferences.
In addition to the general insulation of the portable spa, you’ll want to make sure that you have an appropriate cover for your hot tub. The right cover can significantly increase the energy efficiency of your hot tub. Of course, it’s not going to do you any good unless you use it properly so make sure that you get in the habit of putting that hot tub cover on every time that you stop using the hot tub. The savings you see on your utility bills will make it worth the effort.

My husband and I were thrilled when we finally welcomed our first baby into the world. The little bundle of joy came a few weeks earlier than expected and we suddenly found ourselves a day away from taking our little girl home with no diapers, wipes, shampoo or any of the other little essential that we had been planning on picking up before I went into labour.
Thankfully our friends and family got us new born gift baskets full of all of the necessities that we would need immediately as soon as we got home. We had enough diapers to last us a while, along with shampoos, baby powders, baby wipes and some onesies. We were also given a basket of aromatherapy products for our baby in a lovely lavender scent.
I was fairly sick leading up to my delivery and my coworkers got me two wonderful get well gift baskets that were totally un-baby related! Chocolates, herbal teas, candles and a gift certificate to a local bookstore were all appreciated. Although, from talking to other new moms, I apparently won’t have the time to sit and read a book any time soon. Maybe I can use the gift certificate to buy some magazines. Or even better, baby books.
