Artistic Expression with Aircraft Parts

Artists use a lot of different mediums to express themselves. They use paint, charcoal, crayons, fabrics, clay and other common materials to craft their representations of the world to share with others. In modern times, we’ve also seen a trend towards using salvaged or recycled materials to create sculptural art. This allows the artist to expand his creative vision while making use of items that would otherwise be sitting in a landfill.

For example, an artist might come across a stack of aircraft parts in a junkyard somewhere and decide to use them in art. An artist who never thought much before about the magnificence of flight may begin exploring this as he starts to put together the cracked avionics and loose fasteners that he has found. His own creative world is expanded. He didn’t even know that he had opinions on the history of airlines but suddenly sees them being formed as he shapes his sculpture.

Of course, it isn’t just parts of airplanes that can be used in this manner. Any item can be taken out of its original context and placed into an artistic form to express an idea or feeling. The creative artist will not only make use of his favorite medium (such as painting) but will also look at the world around him and see how it can be used to shape his art.
