If you’re having trouble breathing at night then there’s a good chance that you suffer from a problem called sleep apnea. You would think that this problem would cause you a lot of stress; after all, people need to breathe whether they’re awake or asleep. But the reality is that most people who have this health issue don’t even realize it until someone else points it out.
Sleep apnea is characterized by loud snoring and intermittent missed breaths. Those people who have severe sleep apnea may find that they require a sleep apnea machine (also known as a CPAP machine) to assist them with the problem. This machine changes the flow of air through the body so that the problem no longer occurs during sleep. A sleep apnea mask may also be used for this purpose.
You might be wondering why you would want to treat a problem that you don’t actually notice yourself. The reason is that sleep apnea can lead to other health problems that you’ve probably noticed but didn’t realize were being caused by breathing issues in your sleep. Unexplained fatigue and daytime drowsiness are the two most common problems that are resolved when the sleep apnea machine is properly used.
