Relocation and Animals

Moving can be a traumatic experience for all members of the family but especially for the family pets. Whether relocating for a job or moving to live in another state, the family pet is confused from the commotion and chaos caused by the move. A house full of boxes can be upsetting to an animal because the smells and textures of the home which usually gives them comfort are gone. Normally, household items help them navigate their world.

Once the moving van is packed, the discount dog carriers come out and the dog and cat are placed inside. This is the most upsetting part for an animal on the move. Unused to being uprooted from their home, pets usually dislike begin confined but this option is the safest for the pet. If your dog has a problem with barking in the car or on an airplane, make sure his Little dog bark collar is with you.  Having dog treats, a favorite toy or blanket and lots of water available to him might ease the nervous feeling your pet has in transit.

If moving your cat, upon landing, your cat will need her Littermaid cat litter box. A favorite blanket or toy from home might help her during her travels. Once you are in your new home, your cat and dog will return to normal after a few days.
