Bring Baseball to the Masses
By CUCSA in Sports | 0 comments
I know baseball isn’t for everyone, but I can’t help but wonder—why not? Baseball isn’t a dangerous or even necessarily an exhausting sport. I mean, it’s not like rugby or medieval jousting or anything. I work at a Florida baseball school, so I think I know what I’m talking about when I say that I could teach just about anyone to hit or pitch a baseball. When I give Tampa baseball lessons or Tampa softball lessons, I’m often confronted by people who have fatalistically decided that they are no good at baseball and no good at sports. What do I do with people who believe they are bad at baseball? I teach them baseball! Everything is intimidating before you find out about it and try it. Now, I know better than most that not everyone is capable of being a superb and nationally competitive baseball player like my personal favorite Carlos Gomez. I wish people weren’t quite so competitive about everything. If they weren’t, they might be able to play baseball just for the sake of enjoying the game and getting a little exercise without worrying about winning or losing. If there were more games of baseball and less skilled and athletic people played, it’d be easy to find games of people at comparable skill levels and have great games.
